Lukas (he/they) was born in Vilnius, Lithuania, in 1998. He finished an integrated Masters degree in Chemistry at the University of York in 2021, with the final year research project in the Duhme-Klair group focussing on chemical optimisation of iridium-based Noyori-Ikariya catalysts for transfer hydrogenation reactions. They then continued their studies at the University of York by starting a PhD project supervised by Prof. Anne Duhme-Klair and Prof. Richard Douthwaite in September 2021. Their research was focussed on the mechanistic details of novel molybdenum-based photocatalysts and their applications towards more sustainable oxygen atom transfer reactions. In June 2025, Lukas joined the FreiLab as a post-doc to work on the combinatorial synthesis of Transition Metal based AntiFungals (TMAFs), utilising high-throughput approaches for active compound identification, testing, and further mode-of-action and in vivo studies. Outside of work, Lukas has a passion for history of art, especially for the restoration and conservation of various artifacts. He also enjoys reading books, both fiction and non-fiction, creative and critical writing, as well as film and cinema.
